General Dentistry

Check-Ups
We advice regular check-ups along with daily oral health routine to prevent dental issues.

Check-Ups Include:

1. Consultation with Oral Care Professionals

During your visit, both a dentist and a dental hygienist will see for you. The dentist will examine your mouth for oral cancer or other issues, review your health history, assess the hygienist’s cleaning, diagnose any problems, and recommend treatments. The hygienist will examine your gums and teeth, update your health records, clean and polish your teeth, provide oral care tips, and address any questions about home care products.

2. Cleaning

While daily brushing and flossing help remove plaque, only a professional cleaning by a dentist or hygienist can remove hardened plaque (calculus or tartar) effectively. Hygienists typically use metal hand instruments or ultrasonic scalers for a thorough cleaning above and below the gum line.

4. Prevention

Your hygienist might offer additional instructions for you to follow at home, based on the results of your exam. Don’t hesitate to ask your hygienist for instructions about brushing or flossing, or general care questions about your teeth and gums.

5. X-rays

X-rays might or might not be
taken during your check up .
Your dentist will consider your
clinical examination, dental
history, and risk for developing
cavities in determining the
frequency for X-rays.

Treatment Recommendations

Treatment Recommendations If any oral health problems are identified during your examination, your dentist will make recommendations for the best next steps. These might include referral to another oral health care specialist, additional diagnostic tests, or advice to return for restoration work or additional oral health care.

FAQs

General dentistry focuses on the overall health of your teeth, gums, and mouth. It includes routine checkups, cleanings, fillings, and preventive care to maintain optimal oral health and prevent issues before they arise.

It's generally recommended to schedule a dental check-up every six months. Regular visits help detect issues early, prevent tooth decay, and maintain healthy gums.

Dental X-rays are an important diagnostic tool that helps detect problems that aren't visible during a regular exam, such as cavities between teeth, infections, or bone loss. We use X-rays only when necessary to ensure your health is well monitored.

If you're experiencing a dental emergency, such as severe pain, a broken tooth, or
bleeding gums, contact us immediately. We offer emergency appointments to address urgent issues and provide prompt relief.

What is general dentistry?

Your initial dental appointment is crucial. Expect a thorough examination, including checking your teeth, gums, and overall oral health. The dentist may take X-rays and discuss any necessary treatments or preventive measures. Don’t hesitate to ask questions during this visit.

Facial swelling can indicate infection or inflammation. Apply a cold compress to the affected area and seek immediate dental attention. Antibiotics may be necessary. It would be best to schedule an emergency appointment before your condition worsens.
